The Late Identified Autistic Peer-Support Workshop

Are you seeking connection with fellow late identified autistic individuals who understand the journey that you’re on?

Are you looking for a teacher, mentor, or coach who is autistic and understands the challenges of living in a neurotypical society?

Join us to explore and embrace your autistic self in my 5-week autistic peer-support coaching program!

Regardless of whether you were diagnosed or self identified, you have spent years suppressing your autistic identity and conforming to neurotypical norms. Our focus will be on self-advocacy, unmasking, and cultivating self-care and self-regulation techniques. Let's embark on this empowering journey together!

My autistic peer-support coaching group workshops are built in order to create community and bring together like-minded autistic people looking to grow their autistic self. We are all looking to find or get further in touch with our inner lives and unmask and live authentically.

Everyone will have an opportunity to share, to speak, to contribute, and to grow together in the small autistic communities we build together. All sessions are held on Zoom (virtual).

If you’re looking to benefit from autistic life coaching and support but want to also meet other autistic people and build your autistic community, these groups can be a life changing experience for you. Read some of the testimonials of past participants

  • Matthew is a kindhearted, skilled facilitator, makes the space welcoming, sets clear boundaries, and is passionately committed to his work and to his clients.

    Luz - Italy

  • Life-changing. Matthew is very good at what he does – I was right at the start of my understanding of my neurodivergence when I took the course and the learning was intense and immediately practical, the lessons I learned improving my life tangibly within weeks.

    Caro - Cambridge

Within the secure and encouraging environment of the workshop, we delve into diverse facets of the autistic journey.

Our exploration begins with the recognition and embrace of special interests, understanding them as not only a wellspring of knowledge and expertise, but also as gateways to self-expression and fulfillment.

We celebrate the profound joy experienced by immersing ourselves in these passions, which bring purpose and happiness to our lives.

Progressing further, we navigate the intricate nuances of interoception and sensory experiences, acknowledging the heightened sensitivity often accompanying autism. By gaining insights into our individual sensory profiles, we develop awareness to navigate our surroundings, finding strategies to manage overwhelming stimuli and create environments that promote our well-being.

Our discussions then delve into the intricacies of emotional landscapes, honoring the diverse ways in which autistic individuals experience and express emotions. Through this exploration, we foster self-awareness and cultivate tools for emotional regulation, fostering a sense of balance and stability. Together, we will navigate the complexities of these connections, acknowledging the mixed emotions of both grief and joy that come with understanding your autistic identity. We will explore the nuances of this revelation, providing a space for open discussions, validation, and healing.

Significant attention is devoted to triggers and well-being, acknowledging the challenges posed by meltdowns, shutdowns, and autistic burnout. Together, we learn techniques to slow down, prioritize self-care, and foster resilience in the face of overwhelming circumstances. Recognizing that triggers can significantly impact our well-being, we will work together to develop strategies and coping mechanisms that promote self-care, emotional regulation, and personal growth. By understanding our triggers and developing tools to navigate them, we empower ourselves to lead more fulfilling and balanced lives.

Another vital aspect of our journey involves exploring the concept of autistic masking. We acknowledge the energy expended in concealing our autistic traits to conform to a neurotypical world, while recognizing the importance of embracing our authentic selves. Our focus lies on fostering acceptance and equipping ourselves with strategies to navigate social situations authentically and advocate for our needs.

We also dig into the realm of self-advocacy, empowering each individual to find their voice and assert their rights. Balancing intense focus and intense unfocus becomes a focal point, understanding how to harness our strengths while managing challenges. We explore methods to balance hyperactivity and impulsivity with the desire for routine, discovering ways to satisfy our thirst for new experiences while maintaining a sense of comfort and familiarity.

In my 5-week autistic life coaching group we will create a safe and welcoming environment for late-identified autistics to find solace, validation, and the opportunity for personal transformation. Together, we will navigate the intricacies of past relationships, embrace the bittersweet journey of self-discovery, and equip ourselves with the skills needed to handle triggers in a way that promotes resilience and self-empowerment.

  • Taking part in Matthew's workshop for late identified autistics was my first important step towards creating a neuro affirming life for myself.

    Melanie - Amsterdam

  • I felt so supported and understood by Matthew and all the wonderful people in my group. With that support, I was able to take steps to advocate for myself and my needs in ways that I probably wouldn’t have done on my own.

    Ryan - Vienna

I purposefully keep each autistic peer-support coaching workshop small, ensuring a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 participants alongside myself.

This intentional choice allows everyone in the group to have abundant opportunities to share their thoughts, speak openly, reflect on their experiences, and actively participate in the sessions.

While the scheduled duration of each group session is 90 minutes, the engaging discussions often extend beyond that time. Depending on the program, the groups meet once a week for 5 weeks.

In addition to the invaluable in-group sessions, participants gain access to a dedicated WhatsApp group specifically tailored to their cohort. This fosters ongoing communication and connection between sessions, providing a supportive network. Furthermore, I offer complimentary personal 1-on-1 support and coaching via WhatsApp throughout the program. This individualized guidance helps bridge the gap between sessions and offers tailored assistance.

My autistic group workshops are intentionally created as safe spaces for autistic individuals. You are encouraged to authentically express yourself, without the need to mask or hide. Feel free to be as visible or vocal as you feel comfortable, embracing your true self. These groups serve as environments where you can freely stim and be yourself, surrounded by fellow autistic individuals and myself, who openly share their experiences and lives. Many participants have found these groups to be truly transformative, as attested by the testimonials available on my website.

As the facilitator and leader of the group, I foster an environment that promotes free-flowing participation and meaningful interaction. The format is not a structured lecture with slides, but rather an organic and dynamic space where everyone's input is valued and respected. That being said, we follow a set syllabus and there is an order to the material being discussed.

However, it is crucial to note that these coaching groups are not a substitute for therapy or medical advice. While they offer valuable support and guidance, they do not replace the expertise and specialized care provided by therapists or medical professionals. All of my workshops are offered on a PAY-AS-YOU-CAN & SOLIDARITY basis.

Autistic people in our society are severely underemployed and unemployed. I understand that everyone's financial situation is different, so I also offer a sliding scale based on what is most suitable for you.

If none of the rates are affordable for you, please don't worry. Simply contact me through the provided form, and I assure you that lack of finances will never be a reason for turning anyone away. We will work together to find a solution.

I am well aware of the financial struggles that many autistic adults face and as such, make every endeavor to make all of my services as accessible to everyone.

This group requires a significant investment of your time, energy, and resources. I deeply appreciate and respect this commitment.

I in turn ask that you acknowledge that it also requires a substantial investment on my part. I dedicate considerable time, energy, and resources to prepare for the groups, lead the sessions, provide support throughout the program, and fulfill my role as a teacher and coach, which demands considerable self-regulation.

The suggested participation fee for my groups is €300 (300 euros - approximately $310) for the duration of 5 weeks. If you are able to pay €300, I encourage you to do so. However, if you cannot afford that amount, it's perfectly fine.
