Exploring the Autistic Self Workshop
Are you seeking connection with fellow autistic individuals who understand your journey? Do you desire an autistic coach and guide who truly comprehends the challenges of navigating a neurotypical world? Join us to explore and embrace your autistic self in my 5-week autistic life coaching program!
Regardless of whether you were diagnosed early or later in life, you may have spent years suppressing your autistic identity and conforming to neurotypical norms. Our focus will be on self-advocacy, unmasking, and cultivating self-care and self-regulation techniques. Let's embark on this empowering journey together! My autistic life coaching groups are built in order to create community and bring together like-minded autistic people looking to grow their autistic self. We are all looking to find or get further in touch with our inner lives and unmask and live authentically.
Everyone will have an opportunity to share, to speak, to contribute, and to grow together in the small autistic communities we build together. All sessions are held on Zoom (virtual).
If you’re looking to benefit from autistic life coaching, education, and support but want to also meet other autistic people and build your autistic community, these groups can be a life changing experience for you. Read some of the testimonials of past participants.
These groups are not a substitute for medical advice or therapy.
I purposefully keep each autistic workshop small, ensuring a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 participants alongside myself. This intentional choice allows everyone in the group to have abundant opportunities to share their thoughts, speak openly, reflect on their experiences, and actively participate in the sessions. While the scheduled duration of each group session is 90 minutes, the engaging discussions often extend beyond that time. Depending on the program, the groups meet once a week for 5 weeks.
In addition to the invaluable in-group sessions, participants gain access to a dedicated WhatsApp group specifically tailored to their cohort. This fosters ongoing communication and connection between sessions, providing a supportive network. Furthermore, I offer complimentary personal 1-on-1 support and coaching via WhatsApp throughout the program. This individualized guidance helps bridge the gap between sessions and offers tailored assistance.
My autistic group workshops are intentionally created as safe spaces for autistic individuals. You are encouraged to authentically express yourself, without the need to mask or hide. Feel free to be as visible or vocal as you feel comfortable, embracing your true self. These groups serve as environments where you can freely stim and be yourself, surrounded by fellow autistic individuals and myself, who openly share their experiences and lives. Many participants have found these groups to be truly transformative, as attested by the testimonials available on my website.
As the facilitator and leader of the group, I foster an environment that promotes free-flowing participation and meaningful interaction. The format is not a structured lecture with slides, but rather an organic and dynamic space where everyone's input is valued and respected. That being said, we follow a set syllabus and there is an order to the material being discussed.
However, it is crucial to note that these coaching groups are not a substitute for therapy or medical advice. While they offer valuable support and guidance, they do not replace the expertise and specialized care provided by therapists or medical professionals.
Within this secure and encouraging environment, we delve into diverse facets of the autistic journey. Our exploration begins with the recognition and embrace of special interests, understanding them as not only a wellspring of knowledge and expertise, but also as gateways to self-expression and fulfillment. We celebrate the profound joy experienced by immersing ourselves in these passions, which bring purpose and happiness to our lives.
Progressing further, we navigate the intricate nuances of interoception and sensory experiences, acknowledging the heightened sensitivity often accompanying autism. By gaining insights into our individual sensory profiles, we develop awareness to navigate our surroundings, finding strategies to manage overwhelming stimuli and create environments that promote our well-being.
Our discussions then delve into the intricacies of emotional landscapes, honoring the diverse ways in which autistic individuals experience and express emotions. Through this exploration, we foster self-awareness and cultivate tools for emotional regulation, fostering a sense of balance and stability.
Significant attention is devoted to triggers and well-being, acknowledging the challenges posed by meltdowns, shutdowns, and autistic burnout. Together, we learn techniques to slow down, prioritize self-care, and foster resilience in the face of overwhelming circumstances.
Another vital aspect of our journey involves exploring the concept of autistic masking. We acknowledge the energy expended in concealing our autistic traits to conform to a neurotypical world, while recognizing the importance of embracing our authentic selves. Our focus lies on fostering acceptance and equipping ourselves with strategies to navigate social situations authentically and advocate for our needs.
We also dig into the realm of self-advocacy, empowering each individual to find their voice and assert their rights. Balancing intense focus and intense unfocus becomes a focal point, understanding how to harness our strengths while managing challenges. We explore methods to balance hyperactivity and impulsivity with the desire for routine, discovering ways to satisfy our thirst for new experiences while maintaining a sense of comfort and familiarity.
In my 5-week autistic life coaching group workshop, we celebrate the beautiful tapestry woven by diverse autistic experiences, providing a nurturing space for personal growth, self-discovery, and connection. Together, we wholeheartedly embrace our uniqueness, support one another, and embark on a transformative journey of self-acceptance and empowerment.
