The AuDHD Experience

If you’re autistic and ADHD you know that your life looks very different than those who are just one or the other. As an AuDHDer myself, I know firsthand about many of the challenges, yet also about many of the strengths and joys, of being AuDHD. In my 5-week program, we will learn and discuss a number of topics pertaining specifically to AuDHD humans.

My autistic life coaching groups are built in order to create community and bring together like-minded autistic people looking to grow their autistic self. We are all looking to find or get further in touch with our inner lives and unmask and live authentically. They are held on Zoom (virtual).

Everyone will have an opportunity to share, to speak, to contribute, and to grow together in the small autistic communities we build together.

If you’re looking to benefit from autistic life coaching and support but want to also meet other autistic people and build your autistic community, these groups can be a life changing experience for you. Read some of the testimonials of past participants.

These groups are not a substitute for medical advice or therapy.

Each autism workshop offer is intentionally kept small, with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 participants plus myself. This ensures that everyone in the group has ample opportunity to share their thoughts, speak openly, reflect on their experiences, and actively participate in the sessions. The duration of each group session is 90 minutes, although they often extend beyond the scheduled time due to the engaging discussions. The groups meet once a week for 5 weeks, depending on the specific program.

In addition to the in-group sessions, each participant will have access to a supportive WhatsApp group for your specific cohort, fostering ongoing communication and connection between sessions. Furthermore, I provide complimentary personal 1-on-1 support and coaching via WhatsApp for a duration of the program, bridging the gap between sessions and allowing for individualized guidance.

My autistic life coaching groups are intentionally designed as safe spaces for autistic individuals. You are encouraged to express yourself authentically, be as visible or vocal as you feel comfortable, and embrace your true self without the need to mask or hide. It is a place where you can freely stim and be yourself, surrounded by fellow autistic individuals and myself who share their experiences and lives. These groups have proven to be transformational for many participants, as evidenced by the testimonials you can read on my website.

As the facilitator and leader of the workshop, I create an environment that encourages free-flowing participation and interaction. It is not a structured lecture format with slides, but rather an organic and dynamic space where everyone's input is valued and respected. That being said, we follow a set syllabus and there is an order to the material being discussed.

However, it is important to note that these coaching groups and workshops are not a substitute for therapy or medical advice. While they provide valuable support and guidance, they do not replace the expertise and specialized care offered by therapists or medical professionals.

In this safe and supportive space, we delve into various aspects of the autistic experience. We begin by embracing the power of special interests, recognizing them as not only a source of immense knowledge and expertise but also a gateway to self-expression and fulfillment. We celebrate the autistic joy that arises from immersing ourselves in these passions, as they provide a profound sense of purpose and happiness.

Moving forward, we explore the intricacies of interoception and senses, recognizing the heightened sensitivity that often accompanies autism. By understanding our individual sensory profiles, we can navigate our surroundings with greater awareness, finding strategies to manage overwhelming stimuli and create environments conducive to our well-being.

Our discussions then delve into emotional profiles, acknowledging the diverse ways in which autistic individuals experience and express emotions. By exploring these unique emotional landscapes, we cultivate self-awareness and develop tools for emotional regulation, promoting a sense of balance and stability.

We devote significant attention to triggers and well-being, recognizing the challenges posed by meltdowns, shutdowns, burnout, and the tendency for AuDHD to manifest as a state of being "bored out." Together, we learn techniques to slow down, create space for self-care, and foster resilience in the face of overwhelming circumstances.

Another crucial aspect of our journey involves exploring the concept of masking. We acknowledge the energy expended in camouflaging our autistic traits to fit into a neurotypical world, while also recognizing the importance of honoring our authentic selves. We foster a sense of acceptance and provide strategies for navigating social situations authentically and advocating for our needs.

We will also delve into the topic of self-advocacy, empowering each individual to find their voice and assert their rights. We navigate the delicate balance between intense focus and intense unfocus, understanding how to harness our strengths while managing challenges. We explore ways to balance hyperactivity and impulsivity with the desire for sameness, and we discover methods to satisfy our need for new experiences and excitement while maintaining a sense of comfort and familiarity.

In this life coaching group, we celebrate the beautiful tapestry of autistic experiences and provide a nurturing space for personal growth, self-discovery, and connection. Together, we embrace our uniqueness, support one another, and embark on a journey of self-acceptance and empowerment.
